When Ange first came to me, she felt stuck and frustrated. Years of training had been undone by constant back pain that kept her from working out. Every time she tried, she ended up in a painful cycle—tightness, discomfort, and days of recovery. It left her feeling disheartened and questioning all the hard work she had put in over the years.
After a detailed consultation, including a movement assessment and observations, we identified the root of the problem. Together, we decided on a personalised fitness programme complemented by one face-to-face PT session per week—and so her journey began.
The main focus was to address strength and structural imbalances that had built up over time due to random, overly intense workouts. We set realistic goals to improve mobility, flexibility, and recovery while building strength.
To support this, Ange committed to daily routines tailored to her needs, including stretching, better warm-ups, and improved sleep hygiene. Adjustments to her schedule—like changing the time of day she trained—helped optimise her recovery. Alongside these, we incorporated meal guidance and regular mindset check-ins to create a sustainable, balanced approach.
Within weeks, Ange started noticing a significant reduction in back pain. She felt more optimistic and even began to rediscover her passion for training. As the months went by, she became pain-free, stronger, and more confident.
Her progress was evident: she gradually introduced a wider range of movements into her routine and achieved a more balanced structural strength.
Today, Ange trains five days a week, mixing resistance and aerobic workouts. Ange has gone from not being able to bend over to pick up dumbbells, to doing a barbell bent over row at 60kg for 6 reps. From not squatting at all, to hack squatting 97.5kg.
She’s in incredible shape, brimming with energy, and, most importantly, she’s regained her love for fitness.
